Francisco de Zurbarán created remarkably illusionistic and expressive artwork during the seventeenth century in Spain. His paintings united the drama and emotion of the Baroque and the lifelike naturalism of Spanish polychrome statuary. Art historian Jeff Mishur discusses the work of this Spanish master along with the artist's colleagues Velazquez and Murillo. The Art Institute of Chicago will be featuring The Spanish Baroque exhibition in winter.
