Terra Cotta: A Wondrous and Versatile Architectural Material (Hybrid)

ID : 13839

« back to classes page
Architectural historian Tim Wittman traces elements of the long history of this practical and often beautiful material that has found so many uses over thousands of years. While it has a long and distinguished history, terra cotta has also played an important role in the evolution of architecture in Chicago. Tim examines terra cotta, both ancient and modern, and looks at its various applications as a structural element, as a fireproofing tool, and as an ornamental embellishment.
